Can 7 Year Olds Make an Aqua Duct?

Using what I did with Air Force engineers on base this week, I modified their work and created a design challenge to do with my second graders. Aqua Duct Design Challenge. They had to research what a drought was, what wild fires are, how they are impacting us, and ways to solve that problem. They made rain gauges to collect and measure rain counts for 7 consecutive days. Today they used the collection to dampen dry soil using an aqua duct that had to have varying measurable angles. To redesign...they will have to alter the rate in which the water flows. Listen to the conversations they have learned to have through STEAM education.
