Professional Development...How to Grow Innovative Teachers

I enjoyed facilitating professional development today. We discussed what STEAM is and what it is not. We looked at learning continuums and worked on using them to guide and gauge whether a resource was exemplar or sub par. While MANY resources say they are "STEM/STEM" they aren't. Don't be fooled into buying units and downloading material because it is pretty and looks the part. Check for standards that are embedded. Look for cross cutting standards. Look for rigor. Ask yourself..."is this meaningful? What can my students DO with this
