Using Thoughtful Conversation Marks

Low lexile levels. Struggling readers. Students constantly off task. Sound familiar? So, what do you do? You change the conversation. You change the text (but never alter the rigor). You change your method of engagement. You change your mindset. This, is a shift in your approach to active participation and student engagement. If they feel comfortable conversing, they are far more likely to be reading to understand WHILE enjoying the text. #mindblown
