Are your kids driving you insane on the weekends? They have a million toys to choose from but somehow they are STILL bored? Here is an activity that is fun and free! All you need a sheet of blank paper, the internet and:

Using Design Squad (located at http://pbskids.org/designsquad) watch their video for making pop up books. Let your child choose their design. The website shows them how to cut their paper to make the "pop- up" style. They can recreate any story they want.
Extension: Could the pop ups be the main characters? Or the main events? Or the main idea? Could the background be the setting? Could you use this with smaller children to work on letters? The Letter pops up and things that start with that letter are glued in the background? Could you make a multiplication or addition book? The answer pops up and the numbers being multiplied or added are in the back?
Here is my daughter's work using my main character twist.

Write in the comments section and include some twists for other moms to use! Happy Sunday!
